Linde is currently seeking a Production Engineer to join the team in the Midland, North Carolina area.
Purpose of the Position:
The Production Engineer provides engineering support to production management for capital projects, turn arounds, relief programs, and performance monitoring and improvement programs. This includes maintenance and reliability efforts on all plants in the area to increase reliability and decrease unplanned downtime costs, and diagnosing plant issues and trends to provide engineering solutions.
— Responsible for Engineering Management of Change process at plant, including required Process Safety Management aspects including Pre Start-Up Safety Review execution
— Collaboratively conduct incident investigations, including process upsets and process safety events; investigation/troubleshooting in conjunction with SMEs as it relates to plant issues/incidents/nuisance alarms/alarm management
— Unit Operation performance monitoring and investigation/reporting of process deviations; provide process safety support
— Process Hazard Analysis Team Member and Facilitator; resolve recommendations raised during reviews
— Support Growth and Productivity initiatives
— Zone owner of Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), electrical single line diagrams, trip & interlock lists, alarm databases and Programmable Logic Controller Input/Output lists (PLC IO lists)
— Alarm management administration for the Zone Production Facilities
— On-site presence during major plant evolutions to include start up, shut down, derime, outages, major outages, major maintenance, process upsets (as needed on call)
— Relief Valve (PSV) sizing and control valve sizing as required for projects, capability to review and validate existing designs
— Review custody transfer billing meter calibrations
— Support Hydrocarbon Risk Assessments
— Support annual review/certification of operation procedures; authoring of procedures
— Train technicians with regard to plant operations; training of site staff on new and revised procedures, changes executed as per approved Engineering Management of Change Process
— Acting Zone Production Supervisor or Manager when leader is absent
— Owner of Zone Production Key Performance Indicators – collaboratively works with Zone/Remote Operation Center/Reliability Hub Personnel as appropriate to address performance gaps
— Ensure work orders are in SAP for production engineer tasks that require maintenance support or outage; maintain an ongoing list of opportunity work within SAP and ensure plans are in place
— Oversight and ownership of water treatment programvels
—Bachelor Engineering degree – Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical degree is required.
— Minimum 2-5 years experience in a related process plant operations and reliability activity is preferred. Experience in operational excellence, lean/six sigma a plus.
— Valid drivers license with good record.
— Six Sigma certification a plus.
— Demonstrated track record in solid safety performance.
— Availability for On-call duty and other hours as required.
— Personal computer proficiency (Internet, word processing, spreadsheets), and other software used by the company
— Strong organizational ability - Ability to with working independently with little direct supervision
— Strong oral and written communication skills. – at ease when dealing with customers
— Strong collaborative capability to function in a broader team setting
— Strong interpersonal abilities to support mentoring/coaching activities
— Aptitude for Project management/Change management
— Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
— Familiarity with relevant OSHA standards
— Ability to interpret technical drawings
