    This position provides the flexibility to be based from a home office in any of the following states: IL, IN, MO, or MI. The territory includes IL, IN, MO, MI, WI, KY, and IA.


    What you will enjoy doing:


    The purpose of this position falls into three primary areas of responsibility:

    Account Management: Develop a coordinated, integrated strategy that delivers to the business plan. In addition, this role will be required to directly manage specific customers in North America. Provide support, direction, guidance, and approvals (as appropriate) on customer issues, including but not limited to: P&L management, pricing positions, terms negotiation, and dispute resolution.

    Business Development: Direct accountability for applicable incumbent tonnage activity (expansions, upgrades, renewals, etc.) and ECOVAR opportunities, whether incumbent or new. For new tonnage opportunities larger than ECOVAR, this role will provide direct BD support to the Opportunities and Project Development function, which requires the role to be commercially astute and technically able to input into the design of complex supply schemes. Additionally, to lead or play a major role in the Commercialization Process within the cluster. This role is responsible for endorsing On-Site proposals and supporting On-Site business cases.

    Operations Interface: This role is responsible for the management of business served from Linde’s largest and most technically complex contracts and assets, and must possess a working understanding of the operating modes and principles to minimize cost and maximize profitability. This knowledge is also critical for managing commercial risks and to identify viable growth opportunities within the region. Whilst this position will not have day-to-day operations accountability, the incumbent must encourage cost and reliability improvements within the P&L agenda and thereby influence the local operations organization.

    The role shall also provide leadership in obtaining support from key internal functions. These functions are:

    Markets - To evaluate opportunities for potential conversion to on-site supply, and to support cross Bulk/Onsite investments nationwide

    Project Execution/Proposals – To generate customer solutions and develop capital cost estimates

    FiCO – To develop robust and accurate financial models around On-Site business cases Legal – To develop suitable contract terms and conditions and assist with negotiations

    Supply – To support cost estimates, verify design criteria, and ensure appropriate operational assumptions

    P&L Responsibility - This position will be responsible for managing the P&L and driving profit growth for the Northeast Region On-site business. This area of responsibility can be broadly defined as follows:

    - Maximizing profit while leveraging Global & RBU resources

    - Accountability for the P&L of the portfolio of On-site assets, primarily through optimization and commercial improvements of contracts


    Do you have what it takes?



    • 10+ years experience in sales, operations, or business management in related industry
    • Proven successful track record working with functions of operations, engineering, project management
    • Multi-million dollar deal-making/negotiations experience in multi-cultural environment
    • Significant commercial experience in large scale industrial processes
    • Experience working within a matrix-style, cross-functional, team-based environment


    Required education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business

    Required qualifications: Minimum 10 Years experience in Sales, Operations, or Business management

    Other qualifications:


    Ability to understand and use discounted cash flow analysis tools. Masters in technical or business discipline not required, but beneficial.
