    Operations Technician I - La Porte HyCO

    Responsibilities

    What you will enjoy doing:

    - Safe and efficient operation of all of the HYCO operating equipment.
    - Monitor the performance of reactors, compressors, towers, pumps, etc. by performing a standard Look, Listen, & Feel task to insure equipment is operating properly.
    - Performing routine rounds and taking readings during the shift
    - Open and close valves, start-up and shutdown motors, pumps, steam turbines, compressors, reactors, etc.
    - Comply with HYCO SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality) Policies and Procedures
    - Perform SHEQ related tasks, ie. Inspect fire extinguishers, SCBA equipment, fire monitors, safety showers, eye baths, etc.
    - Work 12 hour rotating shifts ( DuPont schedule)

    Outside Position:

    - Respond to alarms
    - Monitor the performance of compressors, and pumps, etc. by performing a standard Look, Listen, & Feel task to insure equipment is operating properly.
    - Perform routine rounds and take readings during the shift on reactors, compressors, and pumps.
    - Collect process samples and use analytical equipment to determine results
    - Pump sumps to maintain level
    - Make changes to equipment in the field requested by the console technicians
    - Support chemical off-loading tasks
    - Start up and shut down all types of process equipment in the field; ie. Reactors, distillation towers, pumps, compressors, motors, steam turbines, etc.
    - Isolate (manually close valves) process equipment and purge to prepare for maintenance.
    - Communicate with customers when production is impacted, provide updates during equipment outages, and provide advance notice of start-up timing.
    - Trouble shoot equipment or process related problems in the field on all compressors to determine the cause and make changes to resolve the problem.
    - Prepare Task Safety Checklists for maintenance work and review the location of safety equipment and the safety hazards with the maintenance crafts performing the work

    Cold Box Console Position:

    - Communicate with the CO customer when production is impacted, provide updates during equipment outages, and provide advance notice of start-up timing.
    - Control the process of the plant to meet production demands via a Distributed Control System
    - Monitor the performance of compressors, and pumps, etc. by performing a standard Look, Listen, & Feel task to insure equipment is operating properly.
    - Respond to control system alarms and make process changes for the cold box, mole sieve beds, and CO compressors
    - Start-up and shutdown pumps in the reaction and Rectisol part of the process
    - Trouble shoot equipment or process related problems for the purification part of the process to determine the cause and make changes to resolve the problem.
    - Prepare Energy Isolation Plans for maintenance work in the Cold Box operating area

    Reaction Console Position:

    - Communicate with the O2 supplier of daily volume nominations.
    - Communicate with the H2 customers when production is impacted, provide updates during equipment outages, and provide advance notice of start-up timing.
    - Control the process of the plant to meet production demands via a Distributed Control System.
    - Respond to control system alarms and make process changes for the reaction and rectisol part of the process and all but the CO compressors.
    - Trouble shoot equipment or process related problems in the reaction part of the process to determine the cause and make changes to resolve the problem.
    Prepare Energy Isolation Plans for maintenance work in the reaction operating area

    Qualifications

    Do you have what it takes?

    Required Skills:

    - Operate manual valves
    - Following procedures to Start-up and shut-down process equipment
    - Perform “Look, Listen, & Feel” observations of the operating equipment
    - Trouble shoot problems
    - Think and act quickly

    Required education: High School Degree

    (Technical training or college cources/degree desirable but not required)


    Required qualifications: Minimum 5 Years or college degree


    Other qualifications:

    - Instrumentation equipment, control loops, control valves, controllers, transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow), thermocouples, RTD’s, etc.
    - Manual and automatic process controls
    - Pump operations, Positive displacement & Centrifugal
    - Computer PC operation and use of Microsoft Software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    - IMS Traccess training
